Lead Design Engineer (Solar PV)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Design Engineer to join our growing Solar PV team. In this role, you will lead the design and engineering development of residential, commercial, and industrial solar projects, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant solutions.

You will work closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders while mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement in our design processes. What You'll Be DoingLead Solar PV Design & Engineering

• Lead the design and development of Solar PV systems including On-Grid, Hybrid, and Off-Grid solutions.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables such as:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • Layout drawings
  • Design calculations
  • Technical reports
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements.

Optimize System Performance

• Review and validate system simulations using tools such as PVsyst and Helioscope.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy yield, and overall project value.
• Support the selection of suitable equipment and technical solutions.

Ensure Quality & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with Malaysian standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide engineering guidance throughout project development.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, templates, and design processes.

Support Project Delivery

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Teams, Procurement, and Contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in site visits, technical assessments, and project reviews when required.

Mentor & Develop the Team

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design engineers and junior team members.
• Share knowledge, encourage best practices, and support team development.
• Foster a collaborative and positive engineering culture.

Engage with Clients & Stakeholders

• Support technical discussions, presentations, and consultations with clients and partners.
• Assist in preparing technical proposals and preliminary designs for new opportunities.
• Build confidence with stakeholders through clear and practical engineering solutions.

What We're Looking For Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications related to Solar PV are an advantage.

Experience

• 5–8+ years of experience in Solar PV design and engineering.
• Experience leading engineering projects or mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong understanding of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV systems.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in:
  • PVsyst
  • AutoCAD
  • Helioscope
  • Microsoft Office
• Good knowledge of Solar PV system design, electrical engineering fundamentals, and Malaysian industry requirements.
