Job Requirements

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related Engineering field.

·       1–5+ years of experience in Protection & Control testing or commissioning.

·       Knowledge of protection relays, SCADA, RTU, and substation systems.

·       Familiar with IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 60870-************* protocols.

·       Experience in FAT, SAT, relay testing, and troubleshooting.

·       Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, SLDs, and wiring diagrams.

·       Hands-on experience with Omicron or secondary injection kits is an advantage.

·       Exposure to HV/MV substations and commissioning activities is preferred.

·       Familiarity with relay systems is preferred.

·       Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.

·       Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

·       Willingness to travel and work at project sites when required.

·       Possess a valid driving license.

About the Role

The Protection & Control (P&C) Test Engineer is responsible for testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validating protection relays, control systems, SCADA interfaces, and substation automation systems for electrical substations and power system projects. The role ensures reliable operation and compliance with utility and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

·       Perform testing and commissioning of Protection & Control systems

·       Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)

·       Execute secondary injection testing for protection relays

·       Verify protection schemes, control logic, alarms, and interlocks

·       Test SCADA, RTU, PLC, and communication interfaces

·       Validate relay settings and protection coordination

·       Troubleshoot relay and control system issues during testing

·       Review:

o   Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

o   Wiring diagrams

o   Protection logic diagrams

o   Control schematics

·       Prepare testing procedures and commissioning reports

·       Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, utility, and client standards

·       Support site energization and handover activities

·       Coordinate with engineering, QA/QC, and project teams

·       Follow electrical safety and LOTO procedures

·       Comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
