JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and improving supplier and subcontractor quality performance to ensure compliance with Indium Corporation’s quality standards and customer requirements. This role oversees critical suppliers supporting preform, solder paste, wire, and packaging materials, including trays, carrier tapes, jars, cartridges, and syringes. Key responsibilities include supplier qualification, audits, performance monitoring, corrective actions, and continuous improvement to ensure consistent product quality and reliable manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS and COMPETENCIES:

1. Lead supplier quality assurance activities, including supplier selection, qualification, evaluation, development, and ongoing performance monitoring.

2. Manage quality performance for critical suppliers supporting preform, solder paste, wire, raw materials, components, and packaging materials.

3. Establish and implement supplier quality control processes for subcontractors, particularly those involved in outsourced wire manufacturing and related operations.

4. Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits, process assessments, and quality risk evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements.

5. Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), supplier scorecards, nonconformance reports, audit findings, and corrective action effectiveness.

6. Lead investigations into supplier-related quality issues, including incoming material defects, production quality concerns, customer complaints, and subcontractor nonconformities.

7. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, and other appropriate quality tools.

8. Work closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and Quality teams to resolve supplier-related issues and ensure material and process quality.

9. Develop and maintain supplier quality documentation, including supplier assessment reports, audit records, inspection requirements, process FMEA, control plans, and corrective action reports.

10. Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and supplier qualification activities for new materials, components, and manufacturing processes, where applicable.

11. Apply statistical process control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, Six Sigma, and data analysis techniques to reduce process variation and improve supplier quality performance.

12. Ensure suppliers and subcontractors comply with applicable quality management system requirements, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949 where applicable, customer specifications, and Indium Corporation quality procedures.

13. Conduct supplier improvement initiatives to reduce incoming material defects, supplier-related production disruptions, quality costs, and customer complaints.

14. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality improvement, manufacturing processes, and inspection methods.

15. Support supplier-related change management activities, including evaluation of changes to materials, manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and subcontractor operations.

16. Participate in internal, external, and customer audits by preparing supplier quality documentation and supporting corrective action implementation.

17. Prepare and present supplier quality performance reports, quality trends, risk assessments, and improvement recommendations to management.

18. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, quality technicians, and relevant team members as required.

19. Attend training and professional development activities as required.

20. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a science-based technical discipline
• 5 years work experience in a quality or process engineering position
• In-depth knowledge of SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies; ASQ Quality Engineer or Advanced Six Sigma Certification and Lean Manufacturing experience, preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office and software for DOE, SPC and data analysis
• Proven ability to develop and implement testing methods with an emphasis on documenting detailed procedures
• Experienced in supporting internal and external customers regarding requests for technical assistance, quality inquiries and product testing
• Demonstrated ability to complete a wide variety of assignments in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated success at achieving objectives through participation in, or leadership of, functional or cross-functional work teams
• Detail oriented and highly organized
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
