Position Title: Machinist

Job Summary
The Machinist _Lathe Operator is responsible for operating conventional or CNC lathe machines to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires maintaining quality standards, ensuring safe machine operation, and meeting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lathe machines (conventional or CNC) to machine parts as per drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and job orders.
- Set up machines including tool selection, alignment, and fixture setup.
- Perform operations such as turning, facing, threading, boring, knurling, and drilling.
- Measure finished parts using vernier callipers, micrometres, gauges, and measuring tools.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per required tolerances.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments during machining.
- Maintain machines and perform basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report machine issues, defects, or production delays to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / Technical certification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience operating lathe machines in a manufacturing.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of lathe machine operations.
- Ability to read technical drawings and tolerances.
- Experience with measuring instruments (vernier, micrometre, dial gauge).
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machining parameters.
- Basic understanding of machine maintenance and safety procedures.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in CNC and conventional turning machines.
- Knowledge of different materials such as SS304, MS and alloy steels.
- Experience in industrial machinery or fabrication parts machining.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing / machine shop environment.
- May require standing for long periods and handling heavy components.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position with potential for extended work as needed.
Safety Equipment:
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection as required.
