Junior Chef at Supermarket Mercato Light City, Gelugor penang

Job Purpose

To assist in daily kitchen operations, food preparation and cooking while ensuring food quality, hygiene and safety standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking food according to recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure food is prepared and served according to quality and presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, equipment and utensils.
• Ensure proper storage, handling and rotation of food ingredients.
• Monitor ingredient stock levels and assist with stock taking.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and halal requirements, where applicable.
• Assist the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor in daily kitchen operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate superior.

Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking is an advantage.
• Willing to learn and follow kitchen SOPs.
• Able to work in a team and in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
