We are currently recruiting for Senior Planning Engineers for our client whose headquartered in Malaysia. They are currently in search for talent to be based in Johor Bahru and Penang, Malaysia.
A core key element of this role is to develop and control project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
What you will do:
Programmes:
- Develop Master Implementation Programmes and Detailed Baseline Programmes in line with project and contractual requirements. Develop and maintain project master schedules and integrated sub-programmes covering engineering, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
Schedule structure:
- Build and maintain a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that matches the project scope and execution strategy. Set activity sequencing, logic relationships, interfaces and key milestones.
Analysis:
- Carry out Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis and schedule impact assessments.
- Analyse resource and cost performance.
- Load, analyse and update manpower, resource and cost data in Primavera P6, and use it to assess performance and forecast completion.
Resource planning:
- Plan and optimise resources, including allocation, levelling and productivity estimates.
Time–location charts:
- Build these in Microsoft Excel using formulas and conditional formatting.
Progress monitoring:
- Coordinate, collect and verify progress data: actual dates, percentage complete, remaining durations and forecast dates.
- Track progress against the approved baseline.
- Spot variances, bottlenecks, resource constraints and sequencing conflicts, and recommend corrective actions.
Reporting:
- Prepare look-ahead programmes, S-curves, resource histograms, KPIs, procurement schedules, tracking charts and progress dashboards.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Submit programme deliverables on time, in line with the client's requirements.
Recovery planning:
- Identify schedule risks, delays and constraints. Develop mitigation, acceleration and recovery programmes based on the latest progress and available resources.
Site and team:
- Carry out site inspections, present programme updates, and advise the project team on critical activities, risks and potential delays.
Coordination:
- Work with engineering, procurement, construction, commercial and other teams. Keep planning records and documents accurate and properly filed.
Other duties:
- Take on other planning and project-control duties assigned by the Planning Manager.
What you will bring
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- At least 5 years' relevant experience, including at least 3 years in planning.
- Planning experience on engineering projects in rail (metro, LRT or MRT) and road would be advantageous
- Extensive working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with project teams and presenting programme updates.
- Fluent written and spoken English for reports, presentations and client submissions.
- Willing to travel, and to relocate to Johor Bahru or Penang where needed.
Advantageous
- Experience with TILOS.
- PMP certification.
