A. Position Details

Position - Safety Officer

Reports to - HR Manager / Management

Functional Reporting - Managing Director / HR Manager

Job Level - Executive

Work Location - Plassein Industry Sdn Bhd

Salary Range - RM5,500 – RM8,000

Working Hours - 5.5 Days (8.00 - 17.00)

Work Environment - Manufacturing Plant, Warehouse

B. Job Purpose

To develop, implement and monitor occupational safety and health programmers to ensure that the company's workplace, machinery, production activities, employees and contractors comply with applicable Malaysian occupational safety and health legislation, DOSH requirements, RBA standards and company policies.

The Safety Officer must proactively identify workplace hazards, prevent accidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

C. Key Job Responsibilities (JD)

1. Monitor compliance with OSHA 1994 and applicable regulations and DOSH requirements.

2. Conduct regular factory safety inspections and identify workplace hazards.

3. Conduct risk assessments, HIRARC and recommend corrective measures.

4. Investigate workplace accidents, near misses and occupational injuries.

5. Prepare accident investigation reports and monitor corrective actions.

6. Monitor machine guarding, electrical safety, fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

7. Ensure forklift operators and other equipment operators have appropriate competency and authorization.

8. Conduct safety training, toolbox meetings and awareness programmers.

9. Monitor PPE compliance and workplace safety practices.

10. Coordinate emergency drills, fire drills and evacuation exercises.

11. Monitor chemical handling, storage and scheduled waste safety requirements where applicable.

12. Maintain safety documentation, inspection records and statutory reports.

13. Monitor contractor and visitor safety compliance.

14. Work with Production, Maintenance, QC/QA and HR to implement safety improvements.

15 Submit monthly safety performance reports to HR Manager and Management.

D. Required qualifications and experience

Academic qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, Safety Management or equivalent.

• Registered DOSH Safety and Health Officer (SHO), where the position is appointed to fulfil statutory SHO requirements.

• Relevant occupational safety training and competency certifications.

Working experience

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in occupational safety and health.

• Manufacturing or factory experience preferred.

• Experience conducting HIRARC, workplace inspections and accident investigations.

• Experience dealing with DOSH inspections and statutory documentation is an advantage.

Technical competencies

• OSHA 1994 and applicable subsidiary regulations.

• HIRARC and risk assessment.

• Accident investigation and root-cause analysis.

• Fire safety and emergency response.

• Machine safety and industrial hazard identification.

• Chemical safety and PPE management.

• Forklift and material-handling safety.

• RBA and CSR compliance requirements.

• Safety documentation and reporting.

• Good investigation and analytical skills.

• Ability to work with foreign and local employees.

• Strong coordination with department heads and supervisors.

Pay: RM5,500.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
