  • Monitor inventory levels, material availability and supplier lead times to minimise stock shortages, production disruptions and excess inventory.
  • Identify potential supply risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate procurement and delivery disruptions.
  • Coordinate the resolution of material shortages, delivery delays, discrepancies and fulfilment issues.

4. Cost Management & Budgetary Control

  • Manage the purchasing budget and monitor procurement expenditure against approved budgets and business targets.
  • Analyse purchasing costs, market trends and supplier pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining appropriate quality standards, delivery reliability and supply continuity.
  • Prepare purchasing reports and provide management with insights into procurement spending, supplier performance and cost optimisation opportunities.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Sales and Finance to support operational requirements and business priorities.
  • Lead, guide and develop the supply chain or purchasing team to improve productivity, accountability and service delivery.
  • Establish relevant performance indicators and monitor purchasing efficiency, supplier delivery performance, inventory levels and cost savings.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes, documentation and operational workflows.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant working experience in supply chain management, purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in managing purchasing operations, supplier negotiations, inventory planning and material procurement.
  • Strong commercial, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of supplier management, procurement processes, inventory control and supply chain risk management.
  • Experience in leading a team and coordinating with multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP or purchasing management systems.
