About the role

We are looking for a capable and hands-on Kitchen Team Lead to anchor our operations at Nasi Lemak Shop (Retail). This is a full-time position based in Midvalley Southkey, JB.

In this role, you will take charge of day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared efficiently and consistently to the highest standards. As the senior figure in the kitchen, you will play a key part in maintaining quality, leading the team, and supporting the overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and organise kitchen crew to ensure smooth workflow and timely food preparation
• Establish and uphold standard operating procedures to maintain consistency in taste and presentation
• Oversee stock levels, manage ingredient usage, and coordinate purchasing to prevent shortages or wastage
• Work closely with management on menu planning and improvement initiatives in line with brand direction
• Ensure the kitchen remains clean, structured, and compliant with all hygiene and safety requirements
• Coach and develop team members to strengthen their culinary skills and performance
• Coordinate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure service runs seamlessly

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment
• Solid culinary foundation with strong knowledge of cooking methods and flavour balance
• Able to remain calm and decisive in a fast-paced setting
• Good leadership and interpersonal communication skills
• Understanding of food safety standards and hospitality industry regulations
