About the role

The Site Engineer is the first point of contact for faults on the ANPR system at the checkpoint. Working through the service desk, monitoring and incident management practices, you keep lanes operational in line with the agreed SLA and record every fault and fix in the ITSM platform.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor system health and alerts in HikCentral Professional (HCP) and validate each alert before acting on it.
• Provide on-site first-line support, fault response and hardware troubleshooting for ANPR and checkpoint cameras, terminal servers, trigger radars, flash lights, LED displays, intercoms and storage devices.
• Respond to incidents within SLA response times.
• Log, update, escalate and close incidents in the ITSM platform, with accurate fault details and resolution notes.
• Perform only approved Level 1 checks and escalate everything else to the Team Lead.
• Troubleshoot site network issues, including switches, cabling and connectivity between devices, terminal servers and the control room.
• Carry out semi-annual preventive maintenance and complete the checklists and PM reports.
• Support camera calibration, firmware updates and accuracy validation activities, following the approved change and test steps.
• Coordinate with HIKVISION, the main contractor and the Veridian Cloud solution architects on Level 2/3 escalations, as directed by the Team Lead.
• Maintain shift handover logs, spare parts records and site documentation so the next shift starts with an accurate picture.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related field.
• Experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), including incident management and ticketing (Freshservice, ServiceNow or similar).
• Experience in networking: TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, IP addressing and basic network troubleshooting.
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Willing to be based at the border checkpoint site.
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Able to work in a team and under pressure in a 24/7 environment.
• Valid driving licence is preferred.
• ELV (Extra Low Voltage) experience, such as CCTV, access control, intercom or structured cabling.
• Experience with HIKVISION products or HikCentral.
