English Language Instructor – Young Learners and Teenagers

Hunky-Dory Academy is recruiting a full-time English Language Instructor to teach children and teenagers in our small-group English programmes.

Our students include learners developing their general English as well as those preparing to enter international schools. Lessons cover speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, with a strong focus on building confidence and practical communication skills.

Previous teaching experience is preferred but not essential. Fresh graduates with suitable qualifications, strong English and the confidence to teach children and teenagers are encouraged to apply. Training and an organised handover will be provided.

What you will do

• Teach English to primary- and secondary-aged learners
• Deliver small-group and individual lessons
• Support students with speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary
• Follow the academy’s curriculum and established teaching materials
• Adjust lessons for different ages and levels of English
• Prepare additional activities when required
• Check students’ work and provide constructive feedback
• Record attendance and monitor academic progress
• Complete progress reports for parents
• Maintain an orderly and supportive classroom
• Assist with academy programmes and seasonal English camps
• Work cooperatively with teachers and management

Who we are looking for

Applicants must:

• Be Malaysian citizens
• Hold a degree in English, Education or a closely related discipline
• Hold a TEFL or TESOL qualification
• Demonstrate strong spoken and written English
• Be confident communicating with children and teenagers
• Be willing to learn effective classroom-management techniques
• Be dependable, punctual and professionally presented
• Be willing to follow the academy’s curriculum and teaching procedures
• Be able to work effectively as part of a teaching team

Experience teaching English, working with young learners or supporting international-school students would be an advantage but is not required.

Experience with Cambridge English, CEFR or English-language examination preparation would also be useful.

Basic Korean-language ability would be helpful because we teach a number of Korean students, but it is not essential.

Salary and employment benefits

• RM2,500–RM3,500 per month
• Final salary based on relevant qualifications, experience and demonstrated teaching ability
• EPF, SOCSO and EIS contributions
• Annual leave and applicable public holidays
• Three-month probationary period

Handover and training

The successful applicant must be available to begin in mid-October 2026.

The first two weeks will include a paid handover and training period. During this time, the new teacher will:

• Observe existing classes
• Learn our curriculum and classroom procedures
• Review student levels and current learning progress
• Receive guidance on lesson planning, classroom management and progress reporting
• Gradually assume responsibility for the existing timetable
