Major duties and responsibilities • All external financial reporting requirements including statutory financial reporting, returns to the insurance authority, government departments and ensure all obligations are met and licenses issued. This position also leads the implementation of MFRS 17 for the Company • Ensure desired minimum capital and solvency requirements are maintained and a quarterly tracking and monitoring systems is in place, and a current balance sheet management program exists and reviews occurs at a minimum quarterly. • Ensure that monthly internal reporting to the Regional Office in Singapore, International Office in Philadelphia, and Headquarters in US are attended to including organizing/driving the planning and budget process, issuing of monthly operating results/narratives to country and product line management. • Ensure efficient cash management and treasury function is in place and that cash flow opportunities are maximized to ensure best possible interest and investment returns. Efficient process, procedures and performance goals are in place for premium collections and reconciliations and other receivables and payables. • Active involvement in investment management and placement of investments by liaising with the regional investment committee, external custodian and fund manager and make sure mandates are current and proper accounting of fund manager and custodian transactions. • Ensure the tax function is administered properly including submission of corporate tax returns, liaising with tax advisors, and understanding of tax effect accounting and calculating quarterly tax provisions. • Take a proactive role with business leaders and product line managers, by continual training in financial results, identifying unusual business trends, exception reporting, highlighting errors or abnormalities and consulting on new business initiatives from an accounting/collections/capital point of view. • Maintain the expense management program and ensure expense objectives are met or can be explained/approved and are continually monitored. • Ensure support staff has clear objectives and performance appraisals and appropriate training and development is undertaken. To ensure that the Division / Department observes, reports and complies with the requirements of all relevant guidelines and regulations issued by authorities. • Any other duties as assigned Requirements: • Degree or professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA / CIMA / MICPA / ASCPA) recognized by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or equivalent • Minimum 10 years experience in a senior financial and accounting management, preferably from insurance industry • Experience in financial leadership • Experience in complex financial accounting process and procedures • Sound judgment , financial acumen, analytical and planning skills • Ability to think and act innovatively • Good command of the English language • Strong relationship building, presentation and interfacing skills • Strong orientation to teamwork and partnering
