Job SummaryThe Safety & Health Officer (SHO) is responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining occupational safety and health standards across construction projects. The role ensures compliance with applicable safety legislation and company policies while promoting a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors and site personnel.
Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and monitor the company’s occupational safety and health policies and procedures at project sites.Ensure compliance with DOSH/JKKP, OSHA and other applicable occupational safety and health regulations.Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.Conduct and monitor risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.Organise and conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and safety awareness programmes.Monitor compliance with safe work procedures, method statements and permit-to-work requirements.Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences and prepare relevant reports.Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions following safety inspections and incidents.Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, incident reports and other required documentation.Coordinate and monitor safety training and induction programmes for workers and site personnel.Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.Liaise with project teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and relevant authorities on safety and health matters.Attend site meetings and provide updates on safety performance and outstanding safety issues.Assist in emergency preparedness, emergency response drills and safety-related programmes.Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, work areas and site facilities.Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety requirements.Prepare safety reports and submit recommendations to project management.Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across project sites.Perform other safety and health-related duties as assigned by management.RequirementsDiploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management or a related field.Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP.Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry.Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOSH/JKKP requirements and construction safety practices.Familiar with risk assessment, HIRARC, incident investigation and safety inspection procedures.Good understanding of construction activities, work processes and site hazards.Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety documentation.Able to work independently and make sound decisions on site.Willing to travel to project sites when required. ...
