Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Baker position. The successful candidate will support the Head Baker in producing fresh bakery items for all dining outlets while maintaining consistent quality, presentation, hygiene and production standards onboard.

Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based hospitality structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

• This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.

• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Baker or in a similar position within a 4-star or 5-star hospitality or restaurant environment.

• Advanced professional baking skills with strong knowledge of European bakery practices.

• Excellent hands-on bread-making techniques and the ability to maintain consistent production standards.

• Able to follow approved recipes, production methods, weights and specifications accurately.

• Able to guide and train junior bakery team members.

• Strong knowledge of food safety, public health and sanitation procedures.

• Fluent in English with the ability to understand and communicate menus, recipes and operational instructions.

• Additional language abilities are an advantage.

• Physically able to stand for extended periods and handle items weighing 50+ lbs.

• Able to work a minimum of 10 hours per day, 7 days per week while onboard.

• Flexible, stress-resistant and able to perform effectively in a demanding bakery environment.

• Professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.

Salary

• Salary: USD 2,200

• Contract duration: 6 months

• Support the Head Baker in planning and producing bakery items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

• Prepare fresh bread according to approved recipes, methods and quality specifications.

• Create bread decorations for buffet themes, special occasions and onboard events.

• Conduct regular recipe reviews and correct production discrepancies promptly.

• Maintain consistent freshness, taste, appearance and presentation across all bakery outlets.

• Prepare daily electronic requisitions based on guest numbers and production forecasts.

• Check storeroom deliveries and coordinate with the Provisions Team to manage perishable ingredients.

• Monitor stock levels and control production to minimise shortages and wastage.

• Ensure mise-en-place is completed before service.

• Guide and train assigned bakery personnel to support productivity and consistent standards.

• Maintain clean-as-you-go practices and comply with food-storage, sanitation and waste-separation procedures.

• Support loading and quality-control duties in the absence of the Head Baker.

• Provide temporary cover for the Head Baker when trained and operationally required.

• Follow all onboard public health, environmental, PPE, safety, security and emergency procedures.
