Illuminating Asia is a design-driven lighting company known for combining technical innovation with award-winning aesthetics. Our portfolio includes HEATSIG, a patented thermal-sensing ceiling light for elderly care monitoring, and Sorva by Heatsig, our residential lighting line. We're expanding into a new chapter of beautifully designed home lighting and are looking for a talented Product Designer to help lead the way.

The Role
We're seeking a savvy, experienced Product Designer to enhance our existing Sorva by Heatsig product and go on to create a series of high-impact, aesthetically driven home interior lighting fixtures. This is a part-time contract role (minimum 20 hours/week) over 3 months, ideal for a designer who can work independently and deliver focused, high-quality output within a defined engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and enhance the existing Sorva by Heatsig product — refining form, materials, finish, and user experience
• Design a new series of home interior lighting fixtures targeted at residential applications, balancing aesthetic impact with manufacturability
• Develop concepts from ideation through to detailed design (sketches, 3D models, prototypes)
• Select materials, finishes, and light sources that align with premium residential interior trends
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and cost-effective to produce
• Stay ahead of interior design and lighting trends to ensure our products feel current and desirable
• Prepare design documentation and specifications for prototyping and manufacturing
• Present design concepts and rationale to leadership and stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Product Designer, ideally within lighting, furniture, or home/interior product categories
• Strong portfolio demonstrating aesthetic sensibility and successful shipped products
• Proficiency in 3D design/CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or similar)
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials relevant to lighting products (metal, glass, polycarbonate, LED integration, etc.)
• A strong eye for residential interior design trends and consumer aesthetic preferences
• Ability to balance creative vision with commercial and technical constraints
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions to non-design stakeholders
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently on a part-time schedule

Nice to Have

• Experience designing award-winning or design-competition-recognized products
• Familiarity with smart home/connected lighting technology
• Background in sensor-integrated or tech-enabled product design
