Job Description

The Engineer manages the maintenance and repair of the hotel buildings, grounds and contents in a cost-effective manner, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all plant and equipment. This role is concerned with assisting in the supervision of all repair, maintenance and new installations, ensuring the safety operations in the hotel. He/ she effectively communicates and solves the questions guests encountered.

Responsibilities

What will I be doing?

Role

As an Engineer, you will maintain the physical integrity, technical systems, and operational safety of the property while leading team shift operations. Your role focuses on three core pillars:

Technical Operations

• System Maintenance & Checks: Conduct daily inspections of plant rooms, mechanical/electrical systems, and equipment; promptly address operational issues and root causes.
• Shift & Incident Management: Execute emergency procedures, resolve complex technical challenges, and lead smooth shift handovers to ensure uninterrupted hotel operations.
• Contractor & Work Order Oversight: Coordinate external contractor schedules, evaluate job quotes, manage material/tool inventory, and track work requests for continuous improvement.
  
  

Team Leadership

• Shift Leadership & Task Assignment: Direct daily shift tasks, set service standards, and ensure effective communication between engineering sub-teams and leadership.
• Talent Development & Coaching: Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to boost technical capability, optimize shift coverage, and prepare high-performers for advancement.
• Grooming & Administration: Manage team attendance, shift rosters, performance logs, and maintain brand grooming and service standards across shifts.
  
  

Sustainability, Energy & Compliance

• Energy Management: Monitor daily/monthly utility logs and assist leadership in implementing energy-saving initiatives.
• Safety & Audit Readiness: Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards across all departments to ensure full compliance during quarterly and bi-annual audits.
• Cost Control: Manage material inventory and execute work cost-effectively without compromising safety or service quality.

• At least 3 years of working experience in the same position or 5 years of supervisory experience in a 4/ 5-star hotel.
• Proficient in English to meet business needs.
• Knowledgeable of hotel electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Familiar with hotel engineering equipment maintenance and repairs.
