Role Summary

The PPA Origination and Power Sales Lead will lead commercial origination and business development activities for Blueleaf’s renewable energy offtake opportunities in Southeast Asia with an initial focus on Malaysia as core market in ASEAN.

The successful candidate will build and manage relationships with data centre operators, cloud service providers, telecommunications companies and other large energy-intensive customers, identifying opportunities for long-term renewable power procurement solutions.

The role requires a strong combination of commercial acumen, energy market knowledge, stakeholder management skills and complex deal execution capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Origination

1. Develop and execute Blueleaf Energy's offtake strategy for SEA.

2. Build a pipeline of prospective customers across:

• Hyperscale data centres
• AI data centre developers
• Cloud service providers
• Telecommunications operators
• Industrial customers
• Multinational corporations with sustainability commitments

3. Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision makers including:

• Energy procurement teams
• Data centre infrastructure teams
• Sustainability leaders
• Project finance teams at commercial lenders / banks
• C-suite decision makers

4. Identify emerging demand linked to Malaysia and broader SEA rapidly growing digital infrastructure and data centre sector.

Commercial Structuring and Cross Functional Collaboration

1. Design renewable energy solutions tailored to customer requirements.

2. Develop pricing proposals and commercial structures.

3. Support power market analysis and forecasting activities.

4. Evaluate contract structures balancing:

• Bankability
• Revenue certainty
• Customer affordability
• Portfolio optimisation

5. Collaborate internally with Project Development, Technical Engineering, Investment & Project Finance, and Legal teams to model risk allocations and project returns to structure executable transactions.

PPA Negotiation & Execution

1. Lead negotiation of Letters of Intent, Term Sheets and PPAs.

2. Manage commercial due diligence through financial close.

3. Coordinate internal approval processes.

4. Support project financing activities by ensuring offtake structures meet lender requirements.

5. Work closely with investors, lenders, advisors and counterparties on revenue contract matters.

Market Intelligence

1. Monitor regulatory developments affecting renewable energy procurement in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.

• Track developments across:
• Corporate renewable energy programs (CRESS)
• Third-party access mechanisms
• Corporate green tariff programs
• Grid and wheeling frameworks
• Renewable certificate markets

2. Maintain intelligence on competitor activity and customer procurement strategies.

Strategic Partnerships

1. Develop partnerships with:

• Data centre developers
• EPC contractors
• Consultants
• Energy retailers
• Utilities
• Technology companies

2. Represent Blueleaf Energy at industry conferences and customer events.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Masters or Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, science or a related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualifications preferred.
• 8+ years' experience in data centre, power markets, infrastructure, renewable energy sectors.
• Demonstrated track record originating and closing commercial energy transactions.
• Strong understanding of Data centre power procurement and development, Corporate renewable PPAs, Electricity markets, Renewable project development and Energy procurement
• Experience buying or selling power for or to data centres or industrial energy consumers ideally including utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage or hybrid projects.
• Existing network within Malaysia's power, technology, infrastructure or data centre sectors highly desirable.
• Knowledge of regulatory and market frameworks in Southeast Asian countries, especially Malaysia.
