ROLE PURPOSE

The Assistant Marketplace Manager runs the day-to-day trading and operation of the Group’s exclusive and distributed brand portfolio on third-party marketplaces and external digital platforms, and is accountable for those channels trading reliably, profitably and to service promise.

Reporting to the Marketplace & Quick Commerce Manager, the role owns the operating detail of each brand-on-platform – assortment and listing quality, pricing and promotion set-up, campaign execution, platform advertising, account health, and the end-to-end order, fulfilment and service flow. It holds an agreed annual target for channel sales and contribution margin.

The Assistant Marketplace Manager will support with building new channel and new brand business cases, including providing operating inputs – platform economics, feasibility, cost to serve, launch requirements – and executes the launch once approved. The role is expected to build the judgement to lead that development work over time.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Platform Operations & Daily Trading

  • Own day-to-day operations across all platform accounts – order release, stock and price synchronisation, listing status, promotion set-up and account administration – directing and quality-assuring work delivered by the outsourced support partner.
  • Monitor daily trading and platform health (orders, payment, voucher redemption, availability, listing suppression, platform errors) and act on exceptions before they reach the customer.
  • Protect platform account health and seller metrics: fulfilment rate, late shipment, cancellation, return and response-time measures, acting before penalties or visibility loss occur.
  • Ensure accurate and timely set-up and quality assurance of promotions, pricing, vouchers, promo codes, campaign assets and storefront layouts across all accounts.
  • Maintain operational trackers, checklists, SOPs and documentation so each channel can operate without single points of dependency.

B. Assortment, Content & Digital Shelf

  • Maintain the assortment listed by brand and platform based on category performance, platform demand signals, margin and stock availability, and retire non-performing listings.
  • Ensure product listings are complete, accurate, compliant and search-optimised – titles, attributes, images, videos, descriptions, variant structures and category placement – working with the brand partnerships and commercial teams.
  • Own digital shelf performance: search ranking and share of search on priority keywords and categories, listing quality scores, and visibility of hero and exclusive lines.
  • Maintain review and rating health, address negative drivers with the brand owners and Customer Service, and protect brand presentation on platform.
  • Benchmark the digital shelf against competing sellers and official brand stores in the same categories, and convert gaps into a prioritised action list.

C. Campaign Execution & Platform Partner Management

  • Plan and execute participation in platform campaigns – peak trading dates, payday and category campaigns, flash deals, vouchers, free shipping, livestream and affiliate mechanics – with a clear commercial case for each.
  • Act as the working-level contact for platform account managers; secure campaign slots, co-funding, banner placements and category support, and hold partners to what was agreed.
  • Quality-assure every campaign set-up before go-live – price, mechanic, voucher logic, stock allocation, imagery and claims – and monitor performance during peak, intervening while the campaign is still trading.
  • Manage platform advertising and paid tooling within budget against a stated return threshold; report spend, attributed sales and margin honestly, and reallocate away from what does not pay back.
  • Complete a post-campaign review for each major event covering sales, margin, funding actually received, operational issues and what changes next time.

D. Commercial Performance & Profitability

  • Deliver channel sales and contribution margin against the agreed annual target, by brand and by platform, and hold the P&L view from gross sales through commission, payment and fulfilment fees, promotion funding, advertising and returns.
  • Maintain the channel economics model for each platform; know the true landed cost of a promotion, a voucher, a free-shipping mechanic or an advertising campaign before committing to it.
  • Maintain the pricing architecture by brand and platform – base price, bundle and multi-buy price, and campaign price – balancing competitiveness against margin and against Guardian retail price integrity.
  • Ensure agreed supplier, principal and platform funding support is claimed and received, working with the brand owners and Finance.
  • Reconcile platform settlements, fees, co-funding claims and chargebacks with Finance, and pursue amounts owed.

E. Fulfilment, Service & Returns

  • Work with Supply Chain, Fulfilment Operations and the relevant warehouse or store fulfilment teams on stock allocation, availability and on-time dispatch, and resolve fulfilment exceptions.
  • Act as the point of contact for Customer Service on order, payment, voucher, refund and delivery enquiries for these channels, ensuring cases are resolved within agreed response times.
  • Maintain and improve return, refund and service-recovery processes, keeping SOPs aligned to current system and platform functionality.
  • Manage the appointed outsourced support partner against agreed service levels, monitoring KPIs and raising corrective actions where needed.
  • Track root causes of recurring customer and fulfilment issues and feed them back into the improvement backlog.

F. New Distribution Support

  • Support the Marketplace & Quick Commerce Manager on business cases for new brands, platforms and channel formats – supplying platform economics, category and competitor data, cost to serve, operational feasibility and launch requirements.
  • Execute approved launches end to end – account and storefront set-up, catalogue and content build, integration and stock set-up, pricing and promotion configuration, service and returns process – to an agreed launch date.
  • Codify each launch into a repeatable playbook and set-up checklist so the next brand or platform can be launched faster and to a consistent standard.
  • Complete post-launch monitoring, resolve teething issues and hand the channel into steady-state operation.
  • Build the commercial judgement to lead new distribution development over time, with increasing ownership of business cases and partner discussions as capability is demonstrated.

G. Reporting, Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare regular reporting by brand and platform covering sales, margin, assortment productivity, campaign results, advertising return, account health and service metrics, with clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Quantify and report the incremental sales and margin delivered from channel initiatives each quarter.
  • Provide the channel input into budget, forecast and range reviews, with assumptions stated and defensible.
  • Identify manual and repetitive processes – bulk upload, price and stock synchronisation, campaign set-up, reporting – and drive automation, simplification or system enhancement to release capacity.
  • Document business requirements for integration, order management or listing tooling; work with Group Digital Product Manager and BU Project Manager to perform User Acceptance Testing before release.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding actions, dependencies and timelines across functions, and escalate decisions that cannot be resolved at working level.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, E-Commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ hands-on marketplace or e-commerce operations experience with a retailer, brand principal, distributor or e-commerce enabler, selling on major regional third-party platforms; health and wellness, supplements or beauty category exposure is a strong advantage.
  • Proven day-to-day ownership of platform accounts – listings, pricing, promotions, advertising, account health and service – with quantified results in sales growth, margin improvement or advertising efficiency.
  • Strong working knowledge of seller centre administration, listing and bulk-upload tools, promotion and voucher engines, and platform advertising tools.
  • Sound commercial literacy: able to build and interrogate a channel margin model covering commissions, fees, funding, advertising and returns.
  • Experience working with order management systems and marketplace integrations or middleware, including UAT and launch support.
  • Experience preparing SOPs, trackers and training materials, and managing outsourced partners or vendors against service levels.
  • Understanding of Singapore e-commerce, marketplace dynamics, payments, fulfilment models, and health and beauty category and regulatory requirements.
