What You'll Be Doing?


The Legal Counsel will provide essential support to the legal team, assisting with a wide range of legal, operational, and governance matter. This includes contract drafting and review, engagement with regulators, and support in managing disputes and investigations. The role also involves administrative, research, and case management responsibilities. This role requires strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. The successful candidate will be proactive, efficient, and capable of working in a fast-paced legal environment.


Job Responsibilities

Contracts, Disputes and Regulatory Management

  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide legal guidance to manufacturing team on dealings with regulatory agencies (e.g DOE, DOSH) during inspections or investigations.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents with various courts and regulatory bodies.

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct legal research on various cases, laws, regulations, and legal articles as required.
  • Summarize findings for use in legal briefs, reports, and case preparation.
  • Monitor and report on changes in laws, rules, and regulations relevant to the company’s business operations.

Case and Project Management

  • Assist in managing case timelines, including tracking important deadlines, hearings, and court dates.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and external counsel to support case preparations and project requirements.
  • Coordinate and support legal projects, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.

Administrative Support

  • Organize meetings, maintain schedules, and prepare presentations for the legal team.
  • Assist in invoice processing, tracking departmental budgets, and expense management.
  • Prepare summaries, briefs, and reports as required.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Support compliance-related tasks, including maintaining a repository of policies and procedures.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews to identify potential legal risks and suggest ways to mitigate them.
  • Ensure adherence to company and department policies related to confidentiality and ethical standards.

Corporate Secretarial & Governance

  • Support the preparation and review of board and shareholder resolutions, minutes, and related governance documents.
  • Coordinate board and committee meetings, including preparation of agendas and meeting materials.
  • Ensure statutory filings and corporate records are maintained in compliance with local laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external company secretaries and regulators (e.g. Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM)) on corporate filings and compliance matters.


Job Requirements

  • Law degree and qualification to practice law in Malaysia, with at least 3 years working experience.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (both oral and written)
  • Strong knowledge of legal principles, terminology, and case management.
  • Proficient in legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.


Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Mixed of law firm and in-house experience. Strong candidate with experience only in a law firm will also be considered.
  • Experience in contract management or compliance.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes and e-discovery tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
