Job Description
The Tool crib technician responsible for maintaining all tooling-related functions across the organization, including design, fabrication, qualification, maintenance, and lifecycle management of tools, jigs & fixtures. This role ensures that all tooling used in machining and CNC production operations meets stringent quality, safety, and performance standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Track, issue, and receive tools using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or tracking software.
- Quality & Safety Inspections: Inspect tools, equipment, and gauges for wear, damage, or defects; remove unsafe items from circulation.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Ensure calibrated tools are up-to-date and coordinate the repair or replacement of broken equipment with vendors.
- Stock Control: Monitor consumable inventory and order replacement parts or supplies to avoid operational delays.
- Facility Upkeep: Maintain 5S standards, ensuring the tool crib area is clean, organized, and properly labelled.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years in an industrial, manufacturing, or aerospace environment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read technical drawings and familiarity with machine tools (lathes, milling machines).
- Software: Proficiency with inventory management tools and CMMS platforms.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance and engineering teams.
