RESPONSBILITIES

• Prepare laboratory apparatus, chemicals, specimens, and materials before practical classes and experiments.

• Assist lecturers, students, and final year research students during laboratory-based teaching, experimental procedures, and student research projects.

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of laboratories according to university and laboratory safety guidelines.

• Monitor laboratory inventory, stock levels, and consumables; report shortages when necessary.

• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, and laboratory waste.

• Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and equipment usage logs.

• Support compliance with laboratory safety procedures, biosafety regulations, and quality assurance requirements.

• Assist in preparing laboratories for practical examinations, audits, inspections, and accreditation.

• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding laboratory consumables and equipment servicing when required.

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Applied Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.

• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; candidates with laboratory experience in an educational, research, or healthcare environment will have an added advantage.

• Basic knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment handling, safety procedures, and chemical management.

• Familiarity with laboratory documentation, inventory control, and record-keeping practices.

• Ability to perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, biosafety practices, and waste disposal procedures.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with lecturers, students, researchers, and external vendors.

• Responsible, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
