Design Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) – Cable Landing Station
OMS Group is a global, neutral, and integrated telecommunications infrastructure service provider, delivering end-to-end solutions across the digital value chain. From Submarine Cable Installation and Marine Maintenance to Cable Landing Stations, Network Backhaul, and Data Centre Connectivity, we are at the forefront of connecting the world. Our capabilities in Submarine Cable Installation and Marine Maintenance comprises installation and repair of deep and shallow water fibre-optic cable systems, shore end installation, engineering and subsea surveys.
We are looking for a Design Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to support the engineering design of next-generation Cable Landing Stations (CLS) for international submarine cable systems and high-capacity terrestrial networks. You will be involved in the design and coordination of mechanical and electrical systems to ensure reliable, scalable, and regulatory-compliant infrastructure for subsea landing environments and terrestrial integration.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the engineering design of Cable Landing Stations (CLS) for submarine cable and terrestrial backhaul systems.
- Prepare and review mechanical and electrical designs, including power distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, grounding, lighting, fire protection, and other building services.
- Assist in the development of technical specifications, engineering calculations, drawings, and design documentation.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, telecom, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
- Participate in feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations for new landing station developments.
- Review engineering drawings, vendor submissions, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support design coordination during the construction and commissioning phases, including technical clarifications, FAT/SAT activities, and issue resolution.
- Ensure designs comply with international standards, local regulations, and QHSE requirements.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project delivery.
- Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
What you should have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical design for mission-critical infrastructure, data centres, telecom facilities, industrial buildings, or similar environments.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including HVAC, power distribution, UPS, generators, grounding, and fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering coordination and design documentation.
- Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, ETAP, or similar design tools.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work effectively with consultants, vendors, and project teams.
- Ability to support engineering design from concept through construction and commissioning.
If you're passionate about designing mission-critical infrastructure that connects the world, we'd love to hear from you.
