• Prepare fire protection system layout.
• Perform hydraulic calculations.
• Size pumps, tanks, and piping.  Prepare shop drawing and As Built Drawing.
• Coordinate with PIC, Supplier and M&E teams.
• Attend design coordination meeting.

Technical Knowledge You should understand the design of:

 Fire sprinkler systems (Wet system & Dry system)

 Wet riser and dry riser systems  Hose reel systems

 Fire hydrant systems  Fire pumps  Fire alarm systems

 Clean agent systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, Inergen, CO₂)

 Smoke control and smoke extraction systems

 Aspirating Smoke Detection System  Performed hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems using Canute (precalculation and detailed calculations)

 UBBL (Uniform Building By-Laws)

 BOMBA requirements

 MS (Malaysian Standards) o MS 1910 - Sprinkler System o MS 1489 – 1 : 2023 - Hose Rel System o MS 1489 – 2 : 2023 - Wet Riser & Dry Riser System

NFPA Standards, especially: o NFPA 13

- Sprinkler System o NFPA 14

- Standpipe & Hose Systems o NFPA 20

- Fire Pumps o NFPA 72

- Fire Alarm Systems o NFPA 2001

- Clean Agent Systems

Software Skills Most employers expect proficiency in:

 AutoCAD

 Revit MEP/BIM (an advantage)

 Microsoft OAice

 Hydraulic calculation software (e.g. Canute)
