Job Overview
The Assistant Manager, Project is responsible for supporting the successful planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects from inception to completion. This role oversees day-to-day site operations, coordinates with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, and ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and statutory requirements. The incumbent will also monitor project progress, manage project documentation, control costs, and provide timely reporting while supporting the Project Manager in achieving overall project objectives. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills are essential to ensure efficient project execution and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Plan, manage, and monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of project schedules to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays or risks, implementing corrective measures where necessary.
2. Site Supervision & Monitoring
- Oversee site progress and monitor quality of workmanship to ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and construction standards.
- Supervise and monitor site supervisors, contractors, and workers to ensure productivity and project targets are met.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure smooth site operations and adherence to project requirements.
3. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Lead and participate in project and site meetings to address technical issues, project updates, and action plans.
- Ensure effective communication among all project stakeholders to facilitate efficient project delivery.
4. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all works comply with statutory requirements, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor field work, including contract works, to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and relevant codes.
- Promote and enforce safety practices to maintain a safe working environment.
5. Cost Control & Contract Administration
- Monitor project cost and schedule performance, ensuring projects remain within approved budgets.
- Review and approve variation orders, contractors’ claims, and project-related expenditures.
- Provide project cost and schedule control measures when necessary to maintain project efficiency.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and present project progress reports, cost updates, and other relevant documentation to management.
- Ensure proper project documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure completion and submission of final project documentation upon project completion.
7. General Duties
- Support the Project Manager in overall project planning, coordination, and monitoring.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support project delivery and operational requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project or site management within the property development or construction industry.
- Proven experience in managing contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of construction practices, regulatory compliance, and project budgeting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
