About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team at SPRING POWER SDN BHD. This is a full-time position based in Bintulu, Sarawak. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the estimating and cost management functions of our construction projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently within financial parameters. This position is integral to the success of our construction operations and directly impacts project profitability and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction projects from design drawings and specifications

• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects

• Manage and monitor project budgets throughout the construction lifecycle

• Prepare bills of quantities and tender documents for competitive bidding

• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors and clients to clarify project requirements and specifications

• Track material and labour costs, identifying cost variances and implementing cost control measures

• Prepare variation orders and change request assessments

• Maintain accurate project cost records and documentation

• Conduct site inspections and measurements to verify quantities and specifications

• Prepare reports and presentations on project costs and budget status for management and stakeholders

What we're looking for

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field from a recognised institution

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards

• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately

• Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders

• Professional certification or membership with recognised quantity surveying bodies (such as RINZ or equivalent) is advantageous

• Experience in power generation or infrastructure projects is preferred

• Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia is desirable
