Responsibilities

Position Title: Executive/ Senior Executive – Supplier Quality Engineer

Department: R&D – Vehicle Quality

Location: Shah Alam, Selangor

Duration: Contract


Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team in a supplier quality engineer role. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of quality standards, strong communication skills, and the ability to evaluate, monitor, and improve supplier performance. They should be capable of collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure products meet quality requirements, manage risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Relevant experience and certifications in quality management are preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Evaluation and Selection

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection process of new suppliers to ensure they have the capability to meet the company's quality requirements.
  • Review the quality management systems of potential suppliers, such as ISO 9001, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct on-site audits of potential suppliers to assess their production facilities, quality control processes, and production capabilities.


Quality Standards and Requirements

  • Communicate the company's quality standards and requirements to suppliers to ensure their understanding and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain supplier quality agreements that clearly define the quality responsibilities and obligations of both parties.
  • Regularly update and maintain supplier quality documentation, including quality standards, inspection specifications, and testing requirements.


Quality Monitoring and Improvement

  • Monitor supplier quality performance by regularly collecting and analyzing quality data, such as PPM (Parts Per Million) and CPK (Process Capability Index).
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and tests on supplier products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Timely address quality issues from suppliers, including investigation, root cause analysis, and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on quality improvement initiatives, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, to enhance their quality levels.


Supplier Performance Management

  • Establish and maintain a supplier performance evaluation system to regularly assess suppliers on quality, delivery, service level, etc.
  • Provide performance feedback and suggestions for improvement to suppliers based on evaluation results.
  • Take necessary actions for underperforming suppliers, such as warnings, suspension of orders, termination of cooperation, etc.


Communication and Coordination

  • Act as the primary contact between the company and suppliers, maintaining good communication channels to promptly resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Regularly organize supplier meetings to convey the company's quality requirements and improvement plans.
  • Work closely with internal teams (such as procurement, production, R&D, etc.) to ensure timely resolution of supplier quality issues.


Risk Management

  • Identify and assess risks related to supplier quality and develop corresponding risk mitigation measures.
  • Participate in suppliers' emergency plans and crisis management to ensure swift action is taken when problems arise.


Training and Development

  • Provide quality training and technical support to suppliers to help them improve their quality management capabilities.
  • Participate in internal quality training and knowledge sharing to enhance the team's overall quality awareness.


Project Management

  • Participate in the development and introduction of new products to ensure suppliers can provide samples and mass-produced products that meet quality requirements on time.
  • Manage supplier quality improvement projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and achieve the desired results.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, quality management, or related fields.
  • Experience: More than 3 years of relevant work experience, with a background in manufacturing or supply chain management preferred.
  • Skills: Familiarity with quality management systems (such as ISO 9001), and strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications: Possession of relevant quality certifications (such as CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt) is preferred.
