Business Analyst (Banking)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Employment Type: Contract (Renewable)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to join a leading Banking and Financial Services project. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and project managers to gather business requirements, analyze business processes, and deliver technology solutions that align with business and regulatory objectives.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in banking projects, system implementation, digital transformation, or regulatory initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from stakeholders.
• Conduct requirement workshops, interviews, and process analysis sessions.
• Translate business requirements into detailed Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) and Business Requirement Documents (BRD).
• Prepare user stories, use cases, workflow diagrams, and process documentation.
• Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform gap analysis and recommend process improvements to enhance business efficiency.
• Support solution design discussions and ensure business requirements are accurately implemented.
• Coordinate and support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production deployments.
• Assist in defect tracking, issue resolution, and change request management.
• Facilitate communication between business users and technical teams.
• Prepare project documentation, meeting minutes, status reports, and project updates.
• Ensure solutions comply with banking regulations, governance standards, and organizational policies.
• Support digital transformation, regulatory, and system enhancement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of Business Analysis experience, with at least 2–3 years in the Banking or Financial Services industry.
• Strong experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements.
• Hands-on experience preparing BRD, FRS, user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.
• Experience working on system implementation, digital transformation, payment, lending, wealth management, core banking, or regulatory projects is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile or Waterfall project methodologies.
• Experience supporting SIT, UAT, defect management, and production releases.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
• Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Azure DevOps, or similar collaboration tools is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech projects.
• Knowledge of banking products, payments, lending, digital banking, AML, KYC, or regulatory compliance is an added advantage.
• Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile, Scrum, or related certifications are desirable.
