The Assistant Manager - IT Infrastructure reflects the individual’s strong technical background, proven performance, and readiness to take on expanded responsibilities as QL continues adopting modern technologies and enhanced Group IT Infrastructure requirements.
You are driven to:
1. IT Infrastructure & Operating System Management
- Oversee daily operations of IT infrastructure systems to ensure performance, reliability, and stability.
- Maintain and support operating systems, server platforms, virtualization environments, and related technologies.
- Monitor system health and conduct proactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Implement continuous improvements to support business growth and efficiency.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth infrastructure operations.
2. Vendor & External Partner Management
- Manage and coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of solutions, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Review vendor proposals and ensure alignment with infrastructure standards and technical requirements.
- Work with data centre and equipment suppliers on maintenance, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
3. Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) and on-prem Data Center
- Manage AWS cloud and on-prem resources, including compute, storage, and networking services.
- Monitor and optimise resource usage, performance, and cost.
- Ensure IT infrastructure follows company security and compliance standards.
- Support IT infrastructure migration, deployment, and operational initiatives.
4. Server Management & Support
- Act as the Person‑In‑Charge (PIC) for all server‑related matters (on‑prem and cloud).
- Manage server hardware and software lifecycle, including installation, configuration, updates, and maintenance.
- Work with suppliers to support and maintain data centre infrastructure.
- Provide 3rd‑level technical support for server hardware, software, OS, and virtualization issues.
- Lead or assist in server‑related projects such as upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
- Manage server backup, restoration processes, and disaster‑recovery readiness.
- Implement enhancements and improvements on server infrastructure (Hyper‑V, VM, SAN, OS security, etc.).
- Manage, or support IT infrastructure–related projects such as system upgrades, virtualization improvements, server consolidation, security enhancements, and cloud initiatives.
5. General Responsibilities
- Ensure all IT systems comply with security, governance, and audit requirements.
- Contribute to infrastructure planning, capacity management, and budgeting.
- Maintain accurate server documentation, diagrams, and inventory records.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and updates for management review.
- Travel to branches/sites when required for support or project deployment.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline
- Minimum 5-6 years experiences in manufacturing, multi-site operations, regional IT support or group/shared-service IT environment
- Strong skill in infrastructure operations and troubleshooting
- Microsoft certification such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Security/Identity-related certification or equivalent OR AWS certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator or equivalent OR VMware, Hyper-V, Windows Server, Linux, storage, backup or network infrastructure certifications
- Team player with ownership mindset
- Positive, proactive and solution-oriented, able to work under pressure
- Organised, disciplined and able to prioritise multiple tasks
- Able to prepare documentation, SOPs, reports and management updates
- Willing to be based in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam
