Strategic Projects & Research Executive, RESET

Role Summary

The Strategic Projects Executive will support RESET’s strategic project development across renewable energy, sustainability, ESG, construction-related innovation, and other emerging initiatives.

This role focuses on research, project development coordination, documentation, and structured internal support for new and ongoing initiatives. The person will help track market developments, organise key project information, support internal decision-making, and contribute to the development of new products, solutions, and business lines under RESET.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about sustainability and environmental impact - someone who naturally thinks in terms of greener systems, better resource use, circular economy, climate resilience, and long-term planetary health. Beyond skills and execution, this role calls for a person who believes in the broader mission of building practical solutions that are better for people, industry, and the planet.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research and Strategic Project Development

• Lead or support research for new and ongoing strategic projects under RESET.
• Conduct market, competitor, technical, regulatory, certification, and industry research for products, services, and new business lines.
• Support internal discussions by preparing research notes, summaries, comparison tables, and opportunity assessments.
• Assist in developing new project ideas and strategic directions for RESET based on market needs and emerging trends.
• Contribute research and coordination support for solutions involving construction, sustainability, renewable energy, prefabrication, ESG, and related sectors.

2. Product and Solution Development Support

• Support the development of product and solution concepts (e.g. customised trunking for solar-to-the-home installations, sustainable 3D Pre-fabricated Modular Affordable Housing etc.) with designers as well as assemblers/manufacturers/fabricators.
• Research technologies, materials, certification requirements, technical standards, industry practices, and adoption trends in Malaysia and the region.
• Track relevant players, suppliers, manufacturers, certification bodies, and potential technical partners.
• Help structure findings into practical internal recommendations for management decision-making.
• Support the documentation and comparison of technical options, implementation requirements, and feasibility considerations.

3. Project Coordination and Documentation

• Work closely with RESET leadership and relevant internal teams to support project execution and follow-up.
• Organise information, documents, timelines, meeting notes, and action trackers across multiple active initiatives.
• Ensure continuity on projects by maintaining proper documentation of discussions, findings, decisions, and next steps.
• Prepare internal summaries, briefing notes, trackers, and structured reference materials for management use.
• Support ad hoc strategic, operational, and project-related assignments as RESET explores new initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Sustainability, Construction, Project Management, Business, Research, or a related field.

• 3 - 5 years of experience in research, project coordination, strategic support, technical documentation, energy-related projects, or a similar role.

• Strong research skills, including the ability to gather, assess, and organise market, technical, regulatory, and commercial information.

• Good written English with the ability to draft summaries, trackers, notes, and basic business documents clearly.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams at once.

• Detail-oriented and able to follow through on research tasks, documentation, and action items.

• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and online research tools.

Preferred Qualities

• Electrical Engineering background and/or practical experience supporting or conducting energy audits would be highly advantageous.

• Exposure to energy efficiency, energy management, electrical systems, renewable energy, sustainability, ESG, construction, industrial products, or technical solution development.

• Familiarity with energy consumption analysis, electrical systems, building services, energy audit data collection, or energy-efficiency improvement measures would be an advantage.

• Able to work independently with limited supervision.

• Proactive, structured, and comfortable handling both detailed research and cross-functional coordination.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities may shift across projects.

• Able to translate research into clear, practical internal recommendations.
