We are looking for a Data Analyst (Financial Insights) to turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support better business decisions. This role focuses on financial and commercial analysis, rather than preparing financial reports, and will work closely with Finance, Operations, and Management to identify opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue, cost, and margin data from financial reports prepared by the Finance team.
- Identify customers or accounts operating below defined margin and profitability thresholds, and highlight pricing or commercial concerns.
- Analyze station and branch performance to identify locations with high operating costs relative to their volume or revenue.
- Conduct profitability analysis across customers, stations, products, and service lines.
- Identify trends, anomalies, variances, and potential areas of concern in financial and business performance.
- Work closely with Finance and Operations teams to validate data and understand the root causes of variances and underperformance.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to provide clear visibility of revenue, cost, margin, and profitability performance.
- Prepare management insight papers, analysis, and recommendations to support business and strategic decision-making.
- Support ad-hoc financial, commercial, and business analysis requested by Management.
- Present key findings, insights, and recommendations to Management and the Board in a clear and actionable manner.
- Perform other duties and analytical projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, business analysis, commercial analysis, data analytics, or a related field.
- Experience in financial reporting analysis, profitability analysis, revenue/cost analysis, or business performance analysis is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI.
- Good understanding of revenue, cost, margin, and profitability analysis.
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial reports prepared by the Finance team.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel across states when required for business projects.
