Our Client
Our client is an established organisation operating in the engineering and project-based services sector. They are seeking an experienced accounting professional to support a 3-month cost reclassification project covering more than 20 entities.
The Role
You will review costs currently recorded below the gross margin line and reclassify eligible items as direct costs, ensuring that gross margins are accurately reflected across all entities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing general ledger accounts and identifying costs requiring reclassification.
- Validating the appropriate accounting treatment and cost classification.
- Preparing and posting reclassification journal entries across more than 20 entities.
- Reconciling balances and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all entries.
- Maintaining proper supporting schedules and a clear audit trail for all adjustments.
- Working closely with Finance and other stakeholders to resolve classification or data-related issues.
- Supporting other finance-related tasks assigned during the three-month period.
Your Profile
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Auditors from Big 4 or mid-tier audit firms who are keen to gain commercial accounting experience are welcome to apply.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger entries and cost classification.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookup functions and data reconciliation.
- System-savvy and comfortable managing large volumes of financial data across multiple entities.
- Meticulous and analytical, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Prior experience in project accounting, cost accounting, financial reporting or finance data clean-up would be advantageous.
- Available to commit to the full three-month assignment.
