Tanggungjawab

At Panduit, we don’t just offer a job, we offer a career where your contributions directly impact on our customers, the environment, and our company’s success. You’ll have the opportunity to grow, innovate, and be part of an inclusive team that celebrates both individual and collective achievements.

The Principal Hardware Engineer – Power Electronics serves as the local technical lead for Panduit’s Advanced Electronics Engineering satellite team in Johor Bahru. Remotely coordinating with advanced R&D team located in U.S., this hands-on role leads daily technical execution, guides prototype development and validation, mentors engineers, and establishes disciplined laboratory practices.

What You Will Do

  • Lead day-to-day technical execution for assigned Advanced Electronics Engineering proof-of-concept (PoC) projects in Johor Bahru.
  • Translate architecture, requirements, technical risks, and PoC success criteria into clear implementation plans and engineering tasks.
  • Make routine implementation decisions locally and escalate architecture, safety, scope, and gate decisions to the designated U.S. R&D authority.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across power conversion, analog/digital hardware, embedded systems, magnetics, protection, and system integration.
  • Lead schematic and PCB design reviews, prototype bring-up, debugging, characterization, fault analysis, and technical problem solving.
  • Establish practical design and laboratory methods for high-voltage/high-current hardware, ESD control, equipment use, documentation, and safe test execution.
  • Coordinate technical work across the local team and maintain clear priorities, actions, risks, and engineering deliverables.
  • Mentor engineers in circuit design, simulation, measurement techniques, debugging, documentation, and engineering judgment.
  • Partner closely with U.S. R&D Team through scheduled technical reviews and disciplined asynchronous documentation.
  • Ensure PoC packages include requirements, schematics, design rationale, risk logs, test plans, test data, open issues, and lessons learned suitable for transfer.
  • Support supplier and prototype-house interactions for PCB fabrication/assembly, magnetics, fixtures, and specialized hardware as needed.
  • Contribute directly to design and laboratory work; this is a hands-on technical leadership role, not an administrative-only position.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 12+ years of electrical/electronic hardware development experience, including substantial hands-on power-electronics work.
  • Strong experience with multi-kilowatt AC/DC or DC/DC power conversion, power semiconductors, gate drives, sensing, protection, magnetics, and control interfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex prototype hardware from detailed design through bring-up, troubleshooting, characterization, and technical review.
  • Strong working knowledge of analog, digital, and embedded hardware and the interfaces between hardware and firmware.
  • Experience with professional ECAD tools such as Altium Designer and simulation tools such as LTspice, SIMPLIS, PSIM, PLECS, Ansys, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, high-voltage differential probes, current probes, power analyzers, electronic loads, programmable sources, and related laboratory equipment.
  • Clear technical communication, documentation, mentoring, and cross-site collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work on site in Johor Bahru and collaborate regularly with U.S.-based engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of power-electronics product-development or advanced-development experience
  • Experience with high-voltage DC distribution, UPS, data-center power, or distributed power systems.
  • Experience with PFC, resonant converters, SiC/GaN power devices, high-frequency magnetics, EMI/EMC troubleshooting, and thermal design.
  • Experience establishing or leading an electronics laboratory, technical team, or geographically distributed engineering group.
  • Working knowledge of relevant UL/IEC safety, isolation, creepage/clearance, EMC, and functional-safety principles.
