Role Summary
EM Services is embarking on a major finance transformation initiative to establish a Finance Shared Services Centre (SSC) that will centralise finance operations across multiple clients.
The SSC will support AP, AR, GL and Treasury activities while driving process standardization, operational excellence, service quality and continuous improvement. The proposed SSC operating model includes AP, AR, GL/Treasury operations, a Centre of Excellence (COE) and supporting finance operations teams.
The Head, Finance SSC is responsible for establishing, leading and continuously improving the Finance SSC.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the incumbent will oversee service delivery, operational performance, stakeholder engagement and people leadership across SSC. The role will work closely with our clients, Finance leadership and the Project team to ensure a successful transition and long-term sustainability of the SSC operating model.
Responsibilities
Lead the establishment of the SSC
- Partner CFO and Project team in establishing the Finance SSC
- Support transition planning and operational readiness activities
- Implement operating procedures, service standards and governance frameworks.
- Build a customer-focused SSC culture.
- Ensure a smooth transition of finance activities into the SSC environment.
- Support organisation-wide adoption of new ways of working.
Manage SSC Operations
- Lead day-to-day SSC operations
- Ensure service delivery meets agreed turnaround times and quality standards.
- Monitor and report operational performance.
- Resolve service issues and operational escalations.
- Promote consistency and standardisation across finance processes
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key liaison between the SSC and Clients.
- Build trusted relationships with Senior Finance Managers and General Managers.
- Conduct regular service review meetings with stakeholders.
- Drive service excellence and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Manage operational and service-related escalation effectively.
Governance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with our Clients Financial Rules (TCFR), internal policies and governance requirements.
- Oversee quality control and review processes across SSC operations.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Monitor operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Maintain strong internal controls within SSC processes.
People Leadership
- Recruit, lead and develop the SSC team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Develop team capabilities and succession pipelines.
- Coach and mentor managers and team leads.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process standardisation across our clients and SSC operations.
- Monitor service performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Partner the Process & Technology team to support automation and system enhancements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Track and report productivity and efficiency improvements
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy/Finance/Business Administration or equivalent
- Professional qualification (CA Singapore, CPA, ACCA) or equivalent
- At least 13 years relevant finance experience, with 8 years in a leadership role managing finance operations or shared services teams.
- Experience in finance operations, financial control, shared services or business process management
- Exposure to finance transformation, process improvement or SSC implementation projects would be advantageous
- Has successfully managed finance operations teams.
- Understands service delivery and stakeholder management
