JOB TITLE: Finance Director
LOCATION: Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia
Job Summary
The Finance Director for our Kuantan site provides strategic and financial partnership to site director and their leadership team, providing decision making support and contributing on a broad range of commercial and strategic issues, in addition to assuring good financial controls and sound financial management processes.
Over the coming period, the site will experience significant growth and change, requiring a Finance Director who can combine strong financial foundations with business partnering and change management skills.
Essential Functions
- Partner the site director and their leadership team to develop strategic plans to execute against the significant growth and change expected at the site over the next 3-5 years.
- Deliver analytics and insight to support business decisions, partnering closely with both site and functional leaders to drive business growth and performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis to explain any variances to forecast result and unforeseen trading patterns. Embed sound continuous improvement principles to ensure that root cause issues are addressed at source.
- Promote a top and bottom line focus within the business unit, supporting and critiquing new projects proposed to ensure that requisite delivery of cash and profit.
- Provide robust financial support for bids and contracts, ensuring that costings used are both competitive and achievable in fulfilment.
- Lead the reporting cycle for the business unit, ensuring that outputs (reports, plans, budgets) are on time, accurate and deliverable. Partner with other leadership team members to ensure that messaging and analytics is thorough and complete, highlighting key financial issues.
- Prepare the company’s financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately, on time and are fully compliant with local statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out all necessary actions, working closely with Group, to ensure that Company policies are implemented fully and maintained. Ensure that the Group’s Control Framework is properly applied and work with the Site Director to ensure that good governance is in place over all required controls and risks.
- Ensure that the Company meets its financial and legal obligations in the region, working closely with local authorities and our external audit team where appropriate.
- Continuously improve the financial support provided to Kuantan site, including developing the finance team capability, processes and provision.
Person specification
- A degree in Finance, accounting or equivalent, and a professional accountancy qualification are required.
- Relevant experience in similar finance roles, including experience of business partnering, planning, analysis, modelling, forecasting and reporting are required. These must have been gained within a manufacturing environment.
- A quantitative thinker who is able to use numbers to simply communicate and validate critical concepts, as well as be able to extract insight from data to drive business improvement.
- An influential team player, adept at operating both as part of a local management team and as part of a global matrix organisation. Able to use interpersonal skills to build credibility and influence quickly and effectively.
- A leader with excellent planning, problem solving and decision making skills. Able both to deliver results individually and through their team / others.
- Able to prioritise demands for themselves and others, focusing on the biggest impact activities while ensuring that financial discipline and sound risk management are maintained.
- Must have excellent oral and written English, and experience of working in international organisations.
- The ideal candidate will have experience of partnering businesses through periods of significant growth and change.
