Data Centre Technician / Asset Management Specialist – Johor Bahru

Location: Johor Bahru / Kulai / Sedenak, Malaysia

Employment Term: 12-Month Renewable Employment Term

Working Environment: Data Centre / Critical Infrastructure

Start Date: Short notice / immediate starters preferred


We are hiring for multiple Data Centre Operations roles based in Johor Bahru. These roles are suitable for candidates with relevant experience in data centre operations, IT hardware support, server deployment, rack & stack, remote hands, asset management, warehouse inventory, logistics, WMS, RMA tracking or critical infrastructure support.

Candidates with prior experience in data centre, IT infrastructure, server hardware, network equipment, logistics, warehouse operations, electronics manufacturing or technical operations will be considered.


Role 1: Data Centre Technician

The Data Centre Technician will support day-to-day data centre operations, including server hardware support, equipment deployment, rack and stack, cabling, troubleshooting, remote hands, asset movement and operational documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily data centre operations within a critical infrastructure environment.
  • Perform server hardware installation, rack and stack, physical checks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support break-fix activities for servers, storage, network devices and related hardware.
  • Assist with hardware replacement such as HDD, SSD, RAM, PSU, fan modules, SFP and other components.
  • Support remote hands activities, including power cycling, visual inspection, cable checking and physical verification.
  • Perform copper and fibre cabling, patching, cable tracing, labelling and cable management.
  • Support server deployment, relocation, decommissioning and hardware validation activities.
  • Monitor and respond to assigned tickets, alarms or operational requests.
  • Coordinate with engineers, vendors, logistics teams and onsite operations staff.
  • Maintain accurate records for hardware movement, asset tracking, ticket updates and shift handover.
  • Follow approved SOP, MOP, EOP, safety, access-control and data centre procedures.
  • Escalate incidents, abnormalities, safety concerns or technical issues promptly.


Requirements

  • Certificate / Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Networking, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in data centre operations, IT hardware support, server support, network support, field support, cabling, electronics manufacturing or technical operations.
  • Hands-on exposure to servers, network devices, cabling, rack equipment or hardware troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with server components such as HDD, SSD, RAM, PSU, fan modules, NIC, SFP or related parts will be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of networking, IP address, switch ports, LAN cables, fibre cables and patch panels will be useful.
  • Able to work in a process-driven environment and follow strict SOP.
  • Comfortable working in a data centre environment.
  • Comfortable with shift / rotational support if required.
  • Good attitude, attention to detail and willingness to perform hands-on technical work.
  • Malaysian Citizen / PR preferred.

Role 2: Asset Management Specialist

The Asset Management Specialist will support data centre logistics and IT hardware asset management activities, including receiving, inventory updates, asset tracking, barcode scanning, RMA processing, stock reconciliation and coordination with technical teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day IT hardware asset activities within the data centre environment.
  • Support receiving, unpacking, checking and processing of inbound IT equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for servers, network devices, storage equipment, spare parts and accessories.
  • Perform serial number checking, barcode scanning, asset tagging and system updates.
  • Track inbound and outbound asset movements accurately.
  • Support asset deployment, relocation, decommissioning and handover activities.
  • Coordinate with data centre technicians, engineers, vendors, logistics providers and warehouse teams.
  • Support RMA, return, replacement and defective-part tracking.
  • Perform cycle counts, stock checks, asset reconciliation and inventory audits.
  • Ensure physical stock and system records are aligned.
  • Maintain documentation for receiving, issuing, transfer, disposal, RMA and inventory movement.
  • Report discrepancies, missing items, damaged goods, incorrect serial numbers or system mismatch promptly.
  • Follow data centre SOP, safety, security and inventory control procedures.


Requirements

  • Certificate / Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, IT, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in asset management, inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, IT hardware handling, data centre logistics or technical operations.
  • Experience with IT assets, servers, network equipment, storage hardware, electronic components or spare parts will be an advantage.
  • Familiar with inventory documentation, stock count, asset tracking, barcode scanning or WMS will be useful.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Able to coordinate with technical teams, vendors and logistics personnel.
  • Comfortable working onsite in Johor Bahru.
  • Malaysian Citizen / PR preferred. (due to hiring quota issue)
