Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Operations Manager & Business Development to lead and oversee the company's day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring efficient workflow, effective team performance and smooth coordination across departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Operations team, improving operational processes and ensuring service and fulfilment standards are maintained. As a registered pharmacist, the candidate will also provide professional pharmaceutical input and support on relevant regulatory and pharmacy-related matters, working closely with the existing Regulatory Affairs Executive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management – Core Responsibility
- Lead, supervise and support the Operations team to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations and compliance with pharmaceutical GDP Standards.
- Monitor team performance, productivity and work quality, and provide guidance and coaching where required.
- Coordinate with Sales, Procurement, Warehouse and Distribution to ensure accurate and efficient order processing and fulfilment.
- Identify operational issues, investigate root causes, and review and improve processes, SOPs and workflows to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Prepare regular operational reports, escalate significant issues, and support the implementation of new systems and initiatives.
- Oversee storage conditions, temperature monitoring, cold chain management, inventory control and stock rotation (FEFO) in compliance with GDP regulations
2. Business Development & Commercial Growth
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, product lines, services, distribution channels and strategic partnerships to drive growth within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, leveraging professional pharmacy networks.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs and pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with Sales and Management teams to develop commercial strategies, pitch to key clients and negotiate partnership terms.
- Assess the operational feasibility and regulatory compliance of new business proposals, while building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners.
3. Pharmacy & Regulatory Support
- Provide professional pharmaceutical input and advice to management and relevant departments when required.
- Act as an internal pharmacist resource for pharmaceutical-related matters.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the existing Regulatory Affairs Executive where professional input is required.
- Review and provide input on regulatory or pharmaceutical matters that require pharmacist knowledge.
- Support the company in maintaining appropriate pharmaceutical and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with the Regulatory Affairs team on relevant issues and escalations.
- Stay updated on relevant pharmaceutical industry, GDP, and regulatory developments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and registered with the Malaysian Pharmacy Board (LFM).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical or related industry.
- Experience in operations management or team leadership is highly preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical distribution, wholesale, pharmacy or healthcare businesses will be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Good understanding of pharmaceutical operations, regulatory requirements and industry practices in Malaysia.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Results-oriented, responsible and able to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Able to work independently and lead teams effectively.
- GDP knowledge will be added value.
