Role Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. The role involves designing, reviewing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components related to fire safety, including fire protection equipment and building services. Responsibilities include leading mechanical design projects, preparing technical drawings and specifications, conducting performance and safety analyses, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, manage project timelines and resources, and support research and development activities that enhance fire engineering practices. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers, preparing technical reports, and participating in technical committees, seminars, or workshops organized by the Institution.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with proven experience in fire safety or building services engineering.
• Proficiency in Machine Design and mechanical systems analysis, including selection and sizing of components used in fire protection and safety applications.
• Advanced skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for preparing detailed mechanical drawings and models.
• Experience in Project Management, including planning, budgeting, stakeholder coordination, and delivering projects to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Background in Research and Development (R&D), with the ability to investigate new technologies, materials, and design methods that improve fire safety performance.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; professional registration or chartership is an advantage.
• Knowledge of relevant fire safety codes, standards, and guidelines (local and international), and familiarity with building and mechanical services regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience mentoring or supervising engineering staff and contributing to technical training or knowledge-sharing initiatives.
