Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Junior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative clinical diagnostic products. You will work in a fast-paced environment alongside mechanical, electrical, software, and assay engineers to design, prototype, test, and improve mechanical components and prototype systems.

This role is suited to an early-career engineer with 2–3 years of relevant experience who enjoys practical problem-solving, rapid iteration, and building physical products from concept through prototype validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical parts, enclosures, fixtures, and prototype assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototype systems in the laboratory and workshop environment.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for 3D printing, machining, moulding, sheet-metal fabrication, and other prototype manufacturing needs.
• Perform basic mechanical testing, including fit, assembly, dimensional checks, reliability observations, and usability-related evaluations.
• Document designs, test results, drawings, bill of materials, and prototype changes clearly and accurately.
• Support design iterations based on test findings, manufacturing feedback, and input from cross-functional engineering teams.
• Assist with basic data collection, processing, and test automation using Python where applicable.
• Participate actively in technical discussions, design reviews, and problem-solving activities.
  
  

Key Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product development, prototype engineering, or R&D. Relevant internships, research projects, or startup experience may be considered.
• Prior experience working in a startup, research laboratory, product-development team, or similarly fast-paced R&D environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Solid Edge, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and assembly, including 3D printing, basic machining, vendor coordination, or test-fixture development.
• Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, material selection, and design-for-manufacture principles.
• Working knowledge of Python programming, particularly for data processing, test-data analysis, or simple automation tasks.
• Comfortable working independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance when needed.
• Detail-oriented, practical, proactive, and willing to learn in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
