The Role
Reporting directly to the Global VP of Marketing, the Director of Communications And Public Relations will own the company's brand and communications strategy across international markets, with a particular focus on Asia, including Japan, and Europe.
This is a highly visible leadership role for a senior communications, PR, or brand professional who has successfully built brand equity, media presence, and corporate reputation within high-growth technology, energy, climate tech, or pre-IPO environments.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape the company's global narrative and support key corporate milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy
- Define and evolve the company's global brand positioning, identity, messaging, and voice.
- Establish clear brand standards and ensure consistent execution across international markets.
- Own and continuously enhance brand guidelines and internal brand resources.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and leadership teams to ensure a consistent and compelling brand narrative across customer-facing materials.
Public Relations & Media
- Develop and execute a global PR strategy to increase brand awareness, credibility, and share of voice.
- Build and maintain relationships with Tier-1 media, industry publications, analysts, and relevant influencers.
- Lead media outreach, press releases, corporate announcements, and executive communications.
- Identify opportunities across emerging and non-traditional media channels.
- Develop communications strategies supporting major corporate milestones, including potential future IPO-related announcements.
Corporate Communications & Thought Leadership
- Own internal and external corporate messaging and ensure a clear, consistent voice across channels.
- Develop communications frameworks for PR, social media, campaigns, and corporate announcements.
- Oversee social media presence and content strategy to drive audience growth, engagement, and share of voice.
- Work closely with senior executives to strengthen their visibility, thought leadership, and external positioning.
Crisis Communications
- Develop and maintain a proactive crisis communications strategy.
- Lead communications during reputational issues, sensitive situations, and other high-profile events.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent external messaging.
Performance & Measurement
- Establish and track KPIs across brand awareness, media coverage, share of voice, sentiment, social engagement, and campaign performance.
- Evaluate PR and brand investments against ROI, agency performance, and business objectives.
- Use data, market insights, and emerging trends to continuously refine the company's communications strategy.
Job Experience
- 8–10+ years of experience in brand management, public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience building and scaling brands within technology, energy tech, climate tech, clean tech, or high-growth/pre-IPO companies.
- Strong track record of securing meaningful coverage across Tier-1 and leading industry media.
- Established relationships with journalists, media outlets, analysts, and relevant industry stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical or business topics into compelling narratives.
- Experience working across multiple international markets, particularly Asia and/or Europe.
- Strong understanding of global media, digital communications, and emerging media trends.
- Strong strategic judgment combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach.
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity and communications effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline. Master's degree is a plus.
