The opportunity
We are building a platform that enables anyone to turn data into clear, compelling insights and visualisations.
We are looking for someone to get hands-on with our pre-release product, helping us test and improve it while using real-world public datasets. You will explore data, identify interesting stories and trends, and use our platform to turn them into visual insights and content.
This role would suit a self-starter who is curious about data, knows how to find meaningful insights, and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrable learning or experience in data science, statistics, data analysis or data visualisation.
- Evidence that you can create charts and insights that a non-specialist can understand.
- Clear written English and the ability to explain your analytical reasoning.
- Evidence that you can work independently. For example, through a self-initiated project, independent analysis or portfolio you chose to build.
You do not need a particular degree classification, a prescribed software stack, previous internship experience or an extensive CV. We assess demonstrated capability, curiosity and reasoning.
What you will do
Create data visualisations and insights
- Find and assess relevant public datasets, including government statistics, open-data portals, and industry or regulatory reports.
- Explore datasets independently to identify trends, patterns and insights that are interesting and worth publishing.
- Prepare and clean datasets for analysis and visualisation.
- Use our platform to turn data into clear visual insights and potentially publishable content.
Help us improve the product
- Use the platform extensively and provide structured feedback on the experience, from working with data through to producing the final visualisation.
- Evaluate the quality and clarity of AI-generated charts and insights.
- Compare AI-generated visualisations with work you would produce manually and explain precisely where and why the output could be improved.
- Contribute to product development discussions, sharing feedback and ideas based on your experience using the platform.
Skills that would be useful
These are helpful, not mandatory. We do not expect one candidate to have all of them.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Grok.
- Familiarity with Python, databases or coding tools.
- Experience with data visualisation tools.
- Experience finding and working with government, regulatory or other public datasets.
What we offer
- Hands-on experience working with AI, data visualisation and product development.
- The opportunity to influence an early-stage product through your analysis, testing and feedback.
- Direct mentorship and regular engagement with product, development and management in a fast-paced remote startup environment.
- Flexible working arrangements around academic commitments.
- Reimbursement of approved work-related expenses.
- The potential for the role to develop into a larger or permanent position for the right person.
How to apply
Please email the following to ************* using the subject line DataViz Intern - [Your Name].
- Curriculum vitae. One or two pages in PDF format.
- A 60-second video. Briefly describe your data visualisation experience and walk us through your strongest chart, map or graphic. A mobile-phone video is absolutely fine; production quality is not assessed.
- Links to work you have done. Share a portfolio, repository, public profile, notebook, university project, published thread or other relevant work. If you do not have an existing example, create one visualisation using a public dataset and include two or three sentences explaining what you found.
