Your Role

Our Asia Life/Health team is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter with strong underwriting expertise to contribute to the growth, development, and profitability of our business across Asia. You will provide medical and financial underwriting expertise, while supporting underwriting research and development, product innovation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the region. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the region, you will help deliver practical underwriting solutions for our clients and business partners.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Underwriting for medical, financial and special risks within the scope of assigned underwriting limits
• Conduct timely underwriting assessments in accordance with established guidelines and best practices, consulting with medical advisors, peers, and management as appropriate
• Continuously enhance underwriting expertise to maintain professional and business standards
• Monitor case referral volumes, underwriting reports and other relevant statistics of each branch
• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of underwriting operational standards, case intake processes, and quality control initiatives across the region
• Contribute to the review and enhancement of internal and client underwriting guidelines
• Support digitalization initiatives and promote the adoption of new underwriting practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to design and deliver bespoke products and innovative solutions
• Provide timely and expert advice on underwriting matters, ensuring effective resolution of underwriting issues across Asia Life/Health and Global Life/Health
• Conduct research and review new and existing product definitions and solutions
• Participate in regional and international initiatives and projects

Your Profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of 12 years of work experience in a life insurance or reinsurance company, including good knowledge of one or more of Asian markets
• Sound medical underwriting knowledge and experience with life, critical illness, disability and health insurance products
• Professional underwriting qualifications such as FALU or equivalent are advantageous
• Good command of English, both written and spoken
• Proficiency in an additional Asian language would be an advantage, given the regional scope of the role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently while also being an effective team player
• Willingness and ability to undertake occasional regional travel
