Position Summary
The Assistant Chief Baker supports the Chief Baker in running the outlet kitchen and stands in as acting kitchen head during the Chief Baker's absence (leave, off-day, emergency). The scope mirrors the Chief Baker's role at a supporting level — more execution-focused, with growing exposure to full kitchen management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Baker in monitoring product quality and presentation of semi-finished and finished products.
- Support day-to-day inventory checks, stock counts, and ordering as directed by the Chief Baker; flag shortage/overstock risks.
- Help supervise staff attendance, attitude, and task follow-up; report observations to the Chief Baker.
- Ensure baking temperature and time SOPs are followed correctly on the floor; escalate deviations.
- Carry out kitchen cleaning SOP and food safety practices, and help enforce them among the team.
- Assist in training and coaching new joiners on SOP compliance.
- Help prepare or adjust the team schedule and step in to cover shifts when manning is short.
- Act as kitchen-in-charge and take over the Chief Baker's core responsibilities when the Chief Baker is on leave or unavailable.
- Relay assignments and updates between the Chief Baker, outlet manager, and team; respond to instructions promptly.
- Remain fully hands-on in production alongside Bakers and Junior Bakers.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in a related bakery/culinary field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a team lead or supervisory capacity.
- Candidates with a relevant bakery/culinary certification (Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Baking, Pastry Arts, or Culinary Arts) will be a strong advantage.
- Positive attitude and willing to contribute ideas during team huddles/brainstorms.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the company's inventory/ordering/stock (RMS) system will be an advantage.
- Able to read and write in English at a working level.
- Basic understanding of food safety practices (Halal/HACCP/ISO); certification is an advantage.
- Willing and able to cover production duties directly in case of manpower shortage.

Pay: RM3,200.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
