Position Title: Assistant Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Department: Manufacturing Engineering
Reporting To: Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Job Purpose
To support and lead manufacturing engineering activities in optimizing production processes, improving manufacturing efficiency, enhancing product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
The role is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes, resolving complex production and technical issues, improving productivity and process capability, and supporting the introduction and improvement of manufacturing systems, particularly for semiconductor-related products and precision manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Manufacturing Engineering activities related to production process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and improvement.
- Develop, establish, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve productivity, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Lead manufacturing engineering projects, including process improvement, equipment/process modification, and new product or process introduction.
- Analyze production processes and identify opportunities to improve cycle time, yield, productivity, process capability, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production, process, and quality-related issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, process parameters, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, and other relevant departments to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement activities where applicable.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), process qualification, process validation, and production ramp-up activities.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to manufacturing methods, tools, jigs, fixtures, and production processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Monitor and improve process capability, yield, downtime, scrap, rework, and manufacturing cost.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Manufacturing Engineers, junior engineers, and technicians.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, technical documentation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are properly documented, standardized, and controlled.
- Support the implementation of engineering changes and ensure production processes are updated accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, safety requirements, company procedures, and manufacturing controls.
- Prepare and present manufacturing engineering reports, improvement proposals, project updates, and performance analysis to management.
Minimum Education / Qualification / Specialized Skills & Knowledge RequiredEducation & Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
- Professional engineering certification is an added advantage.
Working Experience
- Minimum 7–9 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or Production Engineering.
- Preferably with experience in semiconductor, precision manufacturing, automation, or related manufacturing industries.
- Proven experience in process improvement, manufacturing optimization, and production problem-solving.
- Experience in leading manufacturing engineering projects or small engineering teams is an advantage.
- Experience in new product introduction (NPI), process qualification, process validation, or production ramp-up is highly preferred.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes involving pneumatic systems, gas box systems, fluid control components, precision assembly, or semiconductor-related equipment is an advantage.
Specialized Skills & Knowledge
- Strong technical knowledge in manufacturing processes, process optimization, production engineering, and process improvement.
- Good understanding of manufacturing process control, process capability, yield improvement, and productivity enhancement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in root cause analysis, corrective action, and process troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience in improving cycle time, yield, productivity, downtime, scrap, rework, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with NPI, process validation, process qualification, engineering change management, and process documentation.
- Strong project management and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple manufacturing improvement projects.
- Good leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance to engineers and production personnel.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
