Role Overview: Accountant

Lunch Actually is looking for a meticulous, highly organized, and driven Accountant to be based in Malaysia. Operating fully within Xero, you will take charge of the day-to-day financial operations across our three core entities: Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for full-set accounting, cash flow management, payroll processing, and tax compliance across these three markets. We are looking for a highly disciplined self-starter who possesses strong initiative and can work independently to take full ownership of monthly closing, regional statutory payroll, and tax compilations (including Singapore GST, Malaysia SST, and Hong Kong Profits Tax) for all three countries.

Key Responsibilities

1. Xero System Management & Month-End Closing

• Maintain and manage full sets of accounts for the Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong entities entirely within Xero.
• Perform monthly closing procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses for all three entities.
• Ensure accurate multi-currency tracking (SGD, MYR, HKD) and correct handling of foreign exchange transactions.
• Oversee intercompany transactions, billings, and monthly reconciliations.

2. Regional Payroll Processing & Expense Claims

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for employees across Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
• Calculate and ensure accurate, timely statutory contributions, including CPF (SG), EPF/SOCSO/PCB (MY), and MPF (HK).
• Process, verify, and track monthly employee expense claims in accordance with company policies before disbursement.
• Prepare annual employee tax forms (e.g., Singapore Form IR8A, Malaysia Form E/EA, Hong Kong BIR56A).

3. Regional Tax Compliance

• Prepare, reconcile, and submit quarterly Singapore GST returns accurately via the IRAS portal.
• Handle regional tax compliance, including Malaysia’s SST and Hong Kong’s Profits Tax filings.
• Manage deferred tax, withholding tax, and corporate tax computations where applicable.

4. Cash Flow, Payments & Statutory Audit Management

• Reconcile multi-currency bank accounts regularly to maintain live, accurate cash flow data.
• Prepare and arrange bank payments (such as vendor payments, payroll disbursements, and tax expenses) for approval.
• Liaise directly with external auditors, tax agents, and corporate secretaries across the three regions to ensure smooth annual statutory audits and full local regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements

1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MIA, CA) are advantageous but not compulsory.

2. Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience. Prior experience managing multi-entity accounts or regional payroll (SG, MY, HK) is highly preferred.

3. Technical Expertise:

• Good knowledge and hands-on experience with Xero.
• Proven experience independently preparing and filing tax returns across the regions (especiallySingapore GST).
• Good understanding of local labor laws and statutory payroll requirements (especially EPF/SOCSO/PCB and CPF).

4. Soft Skills & Core Attributes:

• Proactive mindset; willing to take the initiative to handle daily accounting issues.
• Independent worker; able to manage daily tasks and meet regular deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Good time management skills to handle tasks for three different regions.
• Detail-oriented with good basic problem-solving abilities.
