Role Overview

The Skillvantage Hub is looking for a Visual Art Instructor to deliver enrichment and CCA (Co-Curricular Activity) art programmes in MOE schools across Singapore. This is a school-based, session-driven role: you'll lead hands-on art classes for primary and/or secondary students, following a curriculum aligned with school enrichment goals and the MOE 21st Century Competencies (21CC) framework.

This is a freelance/part-time engagement, with instructors deployed to named schools on a fixed weekly schedule for the duration of a term or contract.

The Skillvantage Hub is a homegrown Singapore education consulting firm that places qualified instructors into MOE schools to run enrichment and CCA programmes. Our offerings are designed around the MOE 21st Century Competencies (21CC) framework and other recognised learning frameworks, and we work with schools directly as well as through government procurement (GeBIZ).

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate visual art lessons for assigned classes (primary and/or secondary level)
• Design a term-long curriculum/scheme of work that progresses skills across sessions and ties into school CCA or enrichment objectives
• Align lesson outcomes with the MOE 21CC framework (e.g. creativity and innovation, communication skills)
• Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe, inclusive studio environment for all students
• Source, prepare, and manage art materials and tools within an assigned budget
• Track student progress and provide feedback; maintain simple lesson/attendance records
• Organise a showcase, exhibition, or portfolio of student work at the end of term
• Liaise professionally with CCA teachers-in-charge and school staff on scheduling, logistics, and student needs
• Attend occasional briefings or check-ins with The Skillvantage Hub

Required Art Specializations & Skills

Must-have (core teaching specializations):

• Acrylic painting — canvas/board techniques, colour mixing, layering
• Manga/anime-style art — character design, line work, basic digital or traditional inking
• Batik — wax-resist dyeing techniques suitable for a classroom setting
• Upcycling art — turning recycled/found materials into craft or sculptural pieces

Good to have (broadens the programmes you can run):

• Sketching and drawing fundamentals (pencil, charcoal, perspective)
• Watercolour painting
• Mixed media and collage
• Clay work / basic sculpture
• Printmaking (e.g. block printing, stamping)
• Calligraphy and hand-lettering
• Basic digital art (tablet/app-based drawing)
• Colour theory and composition

Candidates are not expected to be expert in every area — strong depth in the four core specializations plus working knowledge of two or more "good to have" areas is a strong fit.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Willing to complete The Skillvantage Hub's instructor registration/vetting process required to work in MOE schools, including a background/police clearance suitable for working with minors
• Diploma or degree in Fine Arts, Design, Art Education, or a related field — or an equivalent strong portfolio with relevant teaching/workshop experience in lieu of formal qualification
• Prior experience teaching or conducting workshops for children/teens (school, enrichment centre, or community setting) preferred
• A portfolio showcasing work across the required art forms (acrylic, manga, batik, upcycling), and ideally examples of student work from past classes
• Strong classroom management, communication, and patience working with young learners
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable travelling to different school locations across Singapore
• First Aid certification is an advantage but not mandatory

Engagement Details

• Contract type: Freelance / part-time, engaged per school term or contract period
• Schedule: Fixed weekly slot(s) during CCA hours or after-school enrichment blocks, per school timetable
• Location: MOE schools across Singapore, as assigned (island-wide; instructors may be matched to schools convenient to their area where possible)
• Compensation: Hourly/per-session rate, commensurate with experience and specialization depth (to be discussed at interview)
• Onboarding: Selected instructors will be asked to submit a short sample lesson plan or portfolio walkthrough as part of final placement with a school
