Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities within the retail market.
Research market trends, customer needs, competitors, and emerging retail opportunities.
Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
Identify potential retail outlets, distributors, dealers, corporate customers, and strategic partners.
Develop new sales channels, including physical retail, wholesale, distribution, and online/e-commerce channels.
2. Sales & Revenue Growth
Develop and manage a sales pipeline to achieve agreed sales targets.
Prepare sales proposals, quotations, commercial presentations, and business plans.
Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and agreements with customers and business partners.
Monitor sales performance and take appropriate actions to achieve business targets.
Explore opportunities to increase sales through new products, promotions, cross-selling, and expansion into new markets.
3. Customer & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, retailers, distributors, and business partners.
Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate products and business solutions.
Conduct regular customer meetings and follow up on business opportunities.
Handle customer feedback and coordinate with internal teams to resolve commercial issues.
Develop long-term relationships that support repeat business and customer retention.
4. Retail Market Development
Identify potential retail locations and opportunities for market expansion.
Support the opening and development of new retail accounts or outlets.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, product offerings, and market positioning.
Recommend new products and services based on market demand and customer feedback.
Work closely with the retail and operations teams to improve sales performance.
5. Partnerships & Strategic Alliances
Identify and establish relationships with potential distributors, suppliers, retailers, franchise partners, and other strategic business partners.
Develop partnership proposals and negotiate mutually beneficial commercial arrangements.
Manage existing strategic partnerships and identify opportunities for further business growth.
6. Business Planning & Reporting
Prepare regular sales forecasts, business development reports, and management updates.
Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, customer activities, and sales pipelines.
Analyse sales and market data to identify growth opportunities.
Prepare annual and quarterly business development plans.
Track performance against agreed KPIs and business objectives.
7. Internal Coordination
Work closely with sales, marketing, operations, finance, procurement, and management teams.
Coordinate product launches, promotions, marketing campaigns, and customer initiatives.
Provide market feedback to management to support product and business strategy.
Ensure that customer commitments are properly communicated and followed through internally.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in
Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, Sales, or a related field
.
3–7 years of relevant experience
in business development, sales, account management, or retail.
Experience in the retail, distribution, FMCG, consumer products, or related industries will be an advantage.
Proven ability to develop new customers and generate business opportunities.
Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
Commercially driven with a strong understanding of sales and profitability.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/business development tools.
Willingness to travel for customer meetings, retail visits, trade shows, and business development activities when required.
