JOB SUMMARY
Lead the Asset, Analysis, Monitoring & Improvement Sub‑Unit to ensure effective, compliant, and timely execution of all asset and inventory accounting activities in accordance with company policies, SOPs, and relevant accounting standards. Drive governance, closing accuracy, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across processes and systems.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ASSET ACCOUNTING
- Oversee end-to-end asset lifecycle governance (additions, transfers/reclassifications, adjustments, retirements/disposals) and ensure accurate, timely system updates.
- Monitor Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) and Asset Clearing to ensure prompt and accurate capitalization; resolve backlogs and exceptions.
- Review and approve journals related to asset transactions; ensure adequate support and compliance with policies and standards.
- Lead engagement with Asset Owners (AO) and Originating Departments (OD) to validate data quality and resolve issues.
- Prepare and/or review audit and tax schedules, analyses, and supporting documents; provide clear rationale and evidence.
INVENTORY ACCOUNTING
- Oversee month-end and year-end Supply Chain/Inventory closing activities; ensure exceptions are resolved with preventive actions.
- Review monthly movements and investigate unusual transactions; escalate as needed.
- Coordinate annual stock‑take with the Inventory Management Section (IMS); oversee subsequent write-off/disposal documentation.
- Consolidate and approve Inventory Listing for submission to FRR and relevant stakeholders (including auditors).
SYSTEM & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Identify and sponsor enhancements to Asset & Inventory modules; collaborate with IT/consultants on design, testing, and deployment.
- Own and update SOPs/policies to reflect process or system changes; implement preventive controls.
GOVERNANCE, BUDGETING AND REPORTING
- Lead the annual budgeting process for asset-related expenditures and depreciation assumptions; review monthly analyses.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal/external stakeholders.
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & OTHER ASSIGNMENT
- Set and track KPIs/KRAs for Sub‑Unit; coach team to achieve targets and build capability.
- Act as Sub‑Unit representative in cross‑functional forums; provide back‑up coverage as required; perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in accountancy/finance; professional qualification is an advantage.
Experience - Minimum 3 - 5 years in assets/ inventory or related finance functions
Knowledge
- Knowledgeable in Fixed Asset and Inventory processes and systems
- Familiar with Procurement, Accounts Payable/ Receivable and General Ledger
- Strong understanding of relevant MFRS and tax exposure
