Job Title: Staff Nurse (OT)
Job Description:
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide high standards of nursing care to patients under the supervision of the Unit Manager and Head of Nursing.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessment, preparation, and monitoring throughout the perioperative period.
- Assist Consultants, Surgeons, and Anaesthetists in the management of surgical patients.
- Monitor patients closely for any signs of improvement or deterioration and promptly escalate concerns.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of nursing care and patient records
Operating Theatre Responsibilities
- Assist in various surgical procedures across different specialties.
- Perform duties as a Scrub Nurse, Circulating Nurse, and General Anaesthesia (GA) Nurse according to operational requirements.
- Prepare the operating theatre, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables prior to surgery.
- Ensure correct surgical counts for instruments, swabs, needles, and other items before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection prevention practices throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist in patient positioning and ensure patient safety during surgery.
- Handle, label, and document specimens according to established protocols.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations within the operating theatre.
CSSD Responsibilities
- Perform Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) duties when assigned.
- Clean, inspect, pack, sterilise, and store surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Ensure sterilisation records and documentation are complete and accurate.
- Monitor sterilisation equipment and report any malfunction or maintenance requirements.
Ward and Operational Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operations and administration of the Operating Theatre and related clinical areas.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of surgical instruments, consumables, medications, and equipment.
- Participate in equipment maintenance checks and report defective equipment promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Quality, Safety and Compliance
- Comply with hospital policies, nursing standards, infection control guidelines, and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical audit, and risk management activities.
- Report incidents, near misses, and adverse events according to hospital procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with PDPA and professional ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing recognised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
- Registered Nurse with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Post Basic qualification in Perioperative Nursing is an added advantage.
- Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Theatre experience is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS certification is an added advantage.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
