Company Description GMT Machinery Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company that has been supplying high-quality bakery machines, ovens, and bread roll lines to bakeries nationwide since 2004. With a dedicated team of around 20 employees, the company supports both artisan and commercial bakeries in optimizing their production processes. GMT Machinery provides equipment for the entire bakery production chain, from kneading and mixing to baking, cooling, and freezing. The company focuses on tailored machines and comprehensive project solutions for bread and roll production, accommodating a wide variety of local tastes and preferences. Internship applicants can expect to join a specialized environment that values innovation, practicality, and close collaboration with bakery clients.

Role Description The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the engineering team in the design, improvement, and maintenance of bakery machinery and production lines. Day-to-day tasks may include assisting in mechanical design and drafting, participating in equipment assembly and installation, and supporting troubleshooting and basic maintenance activities under supervision. The intern will help collect and analyze technical data, prepare documentation, and contribute to testing and quality checks of equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and performance. This is an internship role, based on-site in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, offering hands-on exposure to industrial bakery machinery and real-world engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Foundational mechanical engineering knowledge, including mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Basic skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and mechanical drafting for parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to perform basic technical calculations, measurements, and assist in equipment testing and inspection.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in a workshop and production environment.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to follow instructions, and willingness to work collaboratively on-site.
  • Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Interest in industrial machinery, food production equipment, or automation is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and comply with safety and quality standards.
