Role Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse – Emergency Department (ED) to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, delivering immediate nursing interventions, supporting emergency procedures, and ensuring patient safety while working closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform triage assessments and prioritize patients according to the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS).
  • Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Administer medications, perform nursing procedures, and assist doctors during examinations and emergency interventions.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including resuscitation and Code Blue activations.
  • Monitor patients' conditions, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure effective handovers.
  • Prepare and transfer patients safely for diagnostic procedures, admission, or referral.
  • Ensure medications, consumables, and medical equipment are properly managed and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Support new nursing staff, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to infection control practices, patient safety standards, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Work on rotating shifts as scheduled.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Emergency Department (ED) or relevant clinical setting is an advantage.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and emergency nursing procedures is preferred.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. ACLS or other relevant certifications are an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused, and a strong team player.
  • Willing to work on rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
